Facebook and Google banned your Bitcoin ads. Now what?

Facebook has banned Crypto ads and Google will be banning them in ads. What can you do about it?

The new policy states: “Ads must not promote financial products and services that are frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices, such as binary options, initial coin offerings, or cryptocurrency.”

First thing. Don’t panic. There are creative ways to get around this and we can prove it

1. Paid ads

The ways to bypass Bitcoin’s facebook paid ads ban, legally and ethical

Facebook is a relationship driven social network, where people come to keep up to date on what’s happening in their network. Considering that people don’t come to Facebook to buy products and services. If you want to successfully sell products and services with Facebook ads, you have to build a relationship first.

To be frank, the crypto space doesn’t need more reputation damage. Just in the past week or so, we’ve seen top crypto exchange Bitfinex supoenaed, high-profile dismissals of crypto and Bitcoin from famous economic and political figures at Davos, and talks of tightening regulations in Korea after customs officials found $600 million in illegal foreign crypto exchange trades. Crypto bears are both loud and numerous. Anything that might cut down on the mainstream reach of scams and frauds that give crypto a bad name is a good thing.

As long as it’s only temporary – and Facebook suggests it will be – Facebook’s ban is good news for blockchain enthusiasts.

FB is trying to make its advertisements more reliable and trustworthy for users. If it accomplishes that, it will make FB ads more valuable to legitimate crypto marketers once the ban is lifted. Users will be more likely to click on ads they believe they can trust, after all, and there should be fewer high-profile scams gaining widespread traction and scaring off new users if scammers are denied access to the world’s biggest social media platform.

What this means for you:

Your Facebook page, needs to show valuable content, and engagement.

If you are going to place ads you must make sure not to have the words, Crypto, or Bitcoin,, etc on your facebook ad or facebook business page. Otherwise, you will be banned.

If you are like most companies, and try and go for the hard sell ( placing an ad to go directly to a sales page) you wouldn’t be getting very many leads anyway.

So if you would like to continue to place ads on your crypto site, Facebook is forcing you to to align with their idea of building relationships.

Here is the right way ( and legal way) to get more sales with facebook:

1: Make people aware of your business. (Awareness Stage)

The best way to warm people up and make people aware of your business on Facebook is to advertise a piece of content that is both:

#1-Instead of creating ad that goes directly to your sales page or website, you can have your ad go to an opt-in of a free offer that then goes to a sales funnel.

The trick is to have the offer be irresistible to your audience for them to opt-in. So many people have gotten weary of giving their email address, so to get their email, you need to have a super targeted offer that will provide some of the solutions that will lure your audience to opt-in to your landing page and rank up those conversions.

Once they opt-in, then whammo! You got their email address! This is gold!

If you create the right sales funnel, these emails will be your potential new client.

Also, trying to convert a cold audience is a waste of money. Only about 2% of people are ready to buy on a first impression. Remember, your customers are people and FB Ads is a tool to help you create relationships at scale. The best way to do this is to warm up your audience by creating engagement campaigns with the goal of getting targeted interactions on your content. Boost high quality content to your ideal audience and THEN go for the conversion by running ads only to the people who have already interacted with your posts. This is the most human way to build trust and lead people to buy your product– not by throwing money at the problem.

Build a relationship with each user. Facebook Ads helps you do this by marketing CONTENT to people. People start to know, like, and trust you through persistency of engaging them with content that doesn’t try to sell them. The biggest growth hack on FB Ads this year is the most obvious one: you want to be a big fish in a small pond of people who interact with all your posts and get to know what you’re all about. Make this work and then scale from there.

Videos work. You can target people who have watched say, 50% or 75% of your video with more content. This is a great way to identify quality leads based on how much attention you’ve earned per person.

Stack strategies. You can tie these pieces together and start targeting people who have watched 75% of a video AND has actively messaged your page. The smarter you get about realizing there are different people at different stages of the sales process, the cheaper you’ll be able to drive conversions.
